A fire in the clothes dryer of a home’s laundry room was extinguished by the Oceanside Fire Department Wednesday evening.
A resident at the home at on the 3900 block of Alipaz Court called authorities at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday to report the fire, the department said.
More reports from neighboring residents said the fire came from a dryer, the statement said.
Firefighters arrived within 6 minutes, entered through an open garage and into a laundry room, the fire department statement said.
The home was evacuated and the first engine pulled a fire hose through the garage and put out a fire found in a dryer in the laundry room, the statement said. The dryer was removed by firefighters to the home’s exterior. Other firefighters removed smoke from the laundry room and shut off the electricity.
An OPD fire investigator was on the scene to look into the exact cause of the fire.
Fire officials reminded Oceanside residents to clean their dryer’s filter and vents to avoid the risk of a clothes dryer fire. They also suggested that dryers be installed and serviced by a professional and residents were urged to not use the dryer without a lint filter. Also, clean the lint filter before and after each cycle, they suggested.
