NWS Data: Denver just got nearly half the average winter's worth of snow
Just over a week into November, the Mile High City has far surpassed the average amount of snowfall for the month. In fact, this November is already one of the snowiest November's ever recorded in Denver.
DENVER (KDVR) -- The first measurable snowfall of the season in Denver weather came on Tuesday, and the snow kept coming all week long.

The storms have not broken any notable snow records, but some comparisons offer perspective for just how much snow fell in Denver in the last week.
Nearly 3 November's worth of snow in 5 days
During the average November, Denver gets about 7.3 inches of snow, according to National Weather Service data from 1991 to 2020. Since Tuesday, the Denver International Airport got 20 inches of snow, 2.7 times the month's worth of snow.
With 20 inches of snow, Denver could go the rest of the month without another trace and this November would become one of 10 the snowiest in history, and the snowiest recorded in the 21st century.

November is the fifth snowiest month of the year for Denver. The snowiest month of the year, March, typically brings about 11.5 inches of snow to the Mile High City, 20% of the annual snowfall. Over the past week, DIA received nearly double (174%) the average snowiest month's worth.
Nearly half a season's worth of snow in 5 days
The official weather measurements for the NWS records are taken at DIA. The airport has seen an average of 47 inches of snow during a season since 2007, about 13 inches less than downtown.
The 20 inches of snow at DIA accounts for 42.5% of the average year's worth of snow.
While DIA doesn't typically get as much snow as downtown, the airport got more snow than any other area of the city for this storm.
The second highest amount was 19.8 inches measured near Cherry Hills Village. Other snow totals recorded around the city range from 2.8 inches to 16.4 inches.
There were some impressive totals from this storm across the state — with 54.9 inches in Custer County, 41.5 inches in Elbert County and 34 inches in Jefferson County.
Saturday brought warmer temperatures and melted snow in some areas. Next week, there will be a lot more sunshine with temperatures in the 50s in the Mile High City.
