NISKAYUNA, NY (NEWS10) -- Last season, Northville lost to Fort Ann in overtime in the Class D Section title game. This year, the Falcons flipped the script.
Northville sophomore Elleah Whittaker tallied the game-winning goal with 4.5 second left in overtime, as the Falcons prevailed 1-0 to win the Class D title. "I was just hoping it was going to go in," said Whittaker. "It feels amazing because I get to play with these seniors again for another game that I've always wanted to do."
"We knew that it was a tough game all around," said head coach Doug Hammons. "We talked about who was going to be a hero, and our young sophomore put it in the 20th goal of the season for her and with four seconds left in the first overtime. What a way to win. Last year we lost to the same team and in sudden death overtime. It was bittersweet, you know, and a lot of respect for each team."
