No charges filed in Vallejo’s 20th homicide of 2024

VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) -- The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) said its Detective Division took over the investigation into a "physical altercation" between two brothers this past June that left one dead.

VPD said on June 16 at 12:37 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Magazine Street and 5th Street for a report of a "physical altercation." Witnesses told officers a man attacked his brother then held him down while waiting for police. VPD learned from witnesses the restrained man became “unresponsive”, which caused his brother to perform CPR.

Despite life-saving measures from police then arriving medics, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced died at the scene, said VPD.

On Oct. 29, the Solano County Coroner's Office ruled the man’s death a homicide, marking this as the 20th homicide in Vallejo for 2024. Vallejo police told KRON4 it determined that self-defense was not a factor in the case.

After VPD detectives recommended that no charges be filed, The Solano County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and determined to not file charges at this time.
