New regional cancer center coming to Guilderland

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH) will be opening a new regional cancer treatment center in Guilderland, the company said. The 105,000-square-foot facility, which will be called the NYOH Regional Cancer Center (NRCC) will be located near Crossgates Mall on 4 Crossgates Road.

NYOH, a cancer and blood disorder treatment provider, currently operates out of several locations around the Capital Region, including three suites on 400 Patroon Creek Boulevard in Albany. The new NRCC in Guilderland, planned to be completed in December 2026, will consolidate these suites into the largest, single NYOH facility.

“The aging infrastructure at our Patroon Creek locations has limited our ability to expand and fully meet the growing demand for cancer care in the area,” Takara Wiles, manager of marketing services for NYOH, said. “By consolidating these locations, we eliminate redundancies and improve efficiency, enabling us to provide seamless, patient-focused care with multiple service lines conveniently housed under one roof.”

The NRCC will accommodate up to 50 providers, including oncologists, hematologists and Advanced Practice Providers, to provide comprehensive medical and radiation oncology services and care for both malignant and benign hematology conditions. A laboratory and a pharmacy with a drive-through will also be located on-site.

Although NYOH operates other cancer centers around the area, the administration hopes the NRCC will expand the reach of its advanced cancer treatment services not only within the Capital Region but also to surrounding locales like Western Massachusetts. The facility also hopes to spur local economic growth.

“We aim to keep patients closer to home, minimizing the disruption that long-distance travel can cause, and ensuring they receive the high-quality care they need without having to go to larger metropolitan areas,” Wiles said. “Ultimately, the center will enhance the region’s reputation as a leader in cancer care and solidify our commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”

The Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals approved the construction of the NRCC in November and the facility has signed the lease for the nearly 8.5-acre property. Now, the next step is to finalize plans for breaking ground, which is estimated to move forward in late spring or early summer, according to Wiles.

When the NRCC opens, NYOH’s three suites on Patroon Creek Boulevard will close. Its other locations in the Capital Region, including practices in Troy, Hudson, Clifton Park, Amsterdam and Albany, will remain open.

“By building this new, state-of-the-art center, we are positioning ourselves to better serve the community with more comprehensive services, improved access, and room for future growth," Wiles said.
