New details emerge after 4 found dead in Santa Rosa home

(KRON) -- New details have been revealed in Wednesday's incident that resulted in Santa Rosa police discovering four dead inside a home. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD), the four people are believed to be family members.

The incident is being investigated as a multi-person homicide after all four had suffered significant gunshot wounds, SRPD said. Upon arrival at the home on the 200 block of Monarch Court, officers found a semi-automatic handgun near one of the deceased family members.

Although their identities were not released, police described the family of four as a 33-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man, a 67-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman.

SRPD first received a call about the incident at 1:59 p.m. The phone call requested a welfare check at the Monarch Court residence. According to SRPD, officers then arrived at the residence and forced entry by breaking through a window.

"The reporting party, a boyfriend of one of the occupants, was concerned because they had not heard from a resident in a couple days," police wrote in a social media post.

The motive and circumstances are still under investigation. SRPD said the family's identities' won't be released until they are confirmed with the Sonoma County Coroner's Office. Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10.
