New affordable housing opens in Carlsbad
Vista Azul in Carlsbad, a new affordable housing community in North County, is officially available to individuals and families who earn between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income.
CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Vista Azul in Carlsbad, a new affordable housing community in North County, is officially available to individuals and families who earn between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income.
Located near the corner of Aviara Parkway and Palomar Airport Road, the 70-unit development features 32 one-bedroom apartments, 19 two-bedroom apartments and 18 three-bedroom apartments with one manager’s unit, the County of San Diego said in a news release.
“There is a critical need for affordable housing and I am proud of our partnership with the City of Carlsbad to make this grand opening possible, “said David Estrella, County Housing and Community Development Services Director. “The residents here at Vista Azul will have housing security and that leads to better health and educational outcomes.”
The housing project received $1.3 million through private and public partnerships.
Since 2017, over $314 million has been invested into affordable housing by the County of San Diego, opening doors to nearly 2,500 homes and 3,100 in the works.
