- The crypto community has been quick to weigh in on the debate, offering insights into the factors that could influence the market dynamics between XRP and Ethereum.
In a recent tweet, Scottie Pippen, a 6-time NBA champion, posed a question that has sparked a heated debate in the crypto community: “Who’s changing the game between ETH and XRP in 2025?” The tweet quickly attracted attention, with community members weighing in on which of the two cryptocurrencies will lead the market next year.
Scottie Pippen’s latest comment on XRP vs. Ethereum is not his first foray into the world of cryptocurrencies, which has marked unexpected turns and intriguing claims. In 2022, he joined the NFT trend, and earlier this year, he made a series of enigmatic predictions about Bitcoin, claiming that Satoshi Nakamoto himself had foretold the price in his dreams.
Scottie Sparkis a Debate on XRP and ETH’s Future
XRP enthusiasts are optimistic about the prospects of their favorite coin. One such enthusiast, Scott Trades, predicts that XRP will outperform the rest of the market in this cycle, although he acknowledges that Ethereum’s all-time high run will bring a new era of altcoin growth.
Some experts believe that comparing Ethereum and XRP is misguided, as they serve distinct purposes and aim to solve different problems. One enthusiast noted that Ethereum’s emphasis on decentralized applications and smart contracts sets it apart from XRP’s focus on facilitating cross-border payments and enhancing scalability. Moreover, XRP’s unique characteristics, such as being pre-mined and having a fixed supply of 100 billion tokens, further distinguish it from other cryptocurrencies.
Furthermore, Ripple’s processing power is significantly more impressive than Ethereum’s. With the ability to handle up to 1,500 transactions per second (tps), Ripple far surpasses Ethereum’s relatively slow pace of 15-30 tps.
XRP Ninja believes that XRP’s lackluster price action over the past few months will lead to a surge in value, while Ethereum’s recent price gains are merely a result of speculative buying.
Adding to the list, Ben Armstrong, (BitBoy), has reiterated his bold predictions that XRP will overtake Ethereum’s position by next year. He anticipates XRP reaching between $16 and $22, requiring up to 805% growth, while expecting Ethereum to see less comparable growth. If XRP’s value were to appreciate towards the $8.5 price point, it would approach Ethereum’s current market cap.
$XRP's Path To Flip $ETH as the #2 coin by market cap would land it between $16.5-$22. Find out more in my video: https://t.co/FbB6wZ9xBg

As XRP navigates its long-standing lawsuit with the SEC, Gary Gensler’s departure from office may bring a sense of relief. Meanwhile, Ethereum has already gained a significant advantage in terms of regulatory approval, with its ETF cleared earlier this year. Ethereum’s futures ETF was approved in May, and its spot ETF followed suit in July.
In contrast, XRP’s ETF remains pending while WisdomTree adds to the list of asset managers such as Bitwise, Canary Capital, and 21Shares that have filed for an ETF. Currently, XRP trades at $2.40, a 2.02% increase in the last 24 hours and 2.52% in the past seven days; it’s clear that market sentiment is shifting. Meanwhile, Ethereum, with a market cap of $475 billion, is trading at $3,958, reflecting a 6.26% gain over the past day.
