(KRON) -- Captain Joey Oliva is retiring after over 24 years with the Napa Fire Department and is asking the community to help make his retirement wish come true. The wish?
Oliva wants to help Jasper, a 5-year-old shepherd from the Napa County Animal Shelter find his "furever home." According to Napa FD, Oliva would adopt Jasper himself, but he already has three dogs.
At around 94 pounds, Jasper is an "eye-catching redhead," according to Napa FD. While Jasper "shows a keen interest in other dogs," he is "still learning to navigate the world with confidence," Napa FD said.
Jasper is apparently cautious with strangers and would most likely thrive in a "calm environment where he can build trust at his own pace" with a "patient adopter who understands that love takes time."
Due to Jasper's cautious temperament, Napa FD believes a home with "calm, older children" where he can "feel safe and comfortable as he adjusts to his new surroundings" would be best for Jasper.
"If you're looking for a loyal companion who will reward your kindness with unwavering loyalty and love, Jasper might be the perfect match for you!" Napa FD said. If you're interested, you can meet Jasper at the Napa County Animal Shelter.
