A total of 67 motorists were pulled over and cited by police for various traffic violations in an enforcement operation in Escondido, such as speeding, driving without a license and using cell phones while driving, authorities said Tuesday.

The operation was conducted by the Escondido Police Department from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and included traffic stops for sign and signal violations, according to an EPD statement. Both vehicles drivers and motorcyclists were cited.

Police will also conduct a motorcycle safety enforcement operation on May 5 of next year, the department said.

The operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
