Motorcycle rider dies in Chula Vista crash
One person died in a crash in Chula Vista Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- One person died in a crash in Chula Vista Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
On Monday around 12:23 p.m., officers with the Chula Vista Police Department received calls about a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in the 200 block of Orange Avenue.
When police arrived to the scene, they learned that a black and silver Honda motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Orange Avenue while a silver Nissan Versa was making a southbound turn into a driveway.
The driver of the Nissan was initially traveling west on Orange Avenue before pulling into the median to make the turn, authorities said.
According to officers, the motorcyclist hit the passenger side of the Nissan as it was making the turn.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, officers said. The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending family notification.
Alcohol and/or drug impairment is not believed to a factor in the crash. The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old woman from Chula Vista, is cooperating with law enforcement, according to CPVD.
The CVPD traffic bureau is currently investigating the collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the department.
