Meta Platforms Inc., formerly known as Facebook, is venturing further into the realm of wearable technology with the revelation of its latest project: an AI-powered wristband. During a recent Morning Brew Daily podcast interview, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, disclosed the company’s ambitious undertaking. 

This announcement comes hot on the heels of Meta’s unveiling of Ray-Ban AI glasses in 2023, signaling the tech giant’s continued commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into everyday devices.

Innovative neural interface technology

Describing the AI wristband as a “neural interface,” Zuckerberg elaborated on its functionality, likening it to the human brain’s communication with the body through nervous system signals. The wristband, equipped with electromyography (EMG) technology, aims to capture these signals and leverage the brain’s untapped bandwidth. 

However, Zuckerberg quickly distinguished Meta’s approach from Elon Musk’s Neuralink, emphasizing a non-invasive strategy for now.
