Maryland Heights to open park honoring veterans, first responders
Maryland Heights is breaking ground on Memorial Park, a new park honoring veterans and first responders, which will feature five granite stones topped with bronze helmets, bronze statues, benches, a short walking path, flags, and murals.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- The city of Maryland Heights is breaking ground on a new park today that will honor veterans and first responders. Memorial Park will be located at the corner of Fee Fee Road and Dorsett Road, near Tony's Donuts. The project will occupy just over half an acre.
The park is intended as a tribute to military service members and local first responders. It will feature five polished granite stones, each topped with a bronze helmet, representing the four fire districts within Maryland Heights and the Maryland Heights Police Department. Bronze statues will also be installed to honor both the military and first responders.
Additional amenities will include benches, a short walking path, flags, and a parking area. A set of murals will be added to an existing concrete wall at the park’s edge. Maryland Heights-based Oakline Studio is the architect for the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and is invitation-only due to limited parking. There is no confirmed completion date for the park at this time.
