TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A man is facing 13 years behind bars for charges related to the June 2022 death of a Leander man, according to court records.

Matthew Schultz, 46, pled guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to serve 13 years at a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility in connection with the death of Kevin Clevish, 39.

Schultz was arrested in August 2022 and charged in connection with Clevish's death after the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said he lied about Clevish's death, saying the man died from a drug overdose when he was actually assaulted, according to TCSO.

Schultz was indicted on the manslaughter charge earlier this month, and his sentence began Oct. 9, according to sentencing documents.

He has 777 days of jail credit, which is just over two years.
