Man sentenced in death of 'severely' beaten 65-year-old roommate
A man was sentenced Oct. 10 on a first-degree murder charge following a plea deal, according to Travis County court documents.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced Oct. 10 on a first-degree murder charge following a plea deal, according to Travis County court documents.
Records showed 27-year-old Cristo Jesus Rodriguez received a sentence of 25 years in prison related to the charge.
Rodriguez’s charge was related to the 2022 death of 65-year-old Kenneth George Emery, Rodriguez’s roommate, who police said died after being severely beaten.
Toward his sentence, Rodriguez received a jail credit of 801 days.
As of Wednesday, Rodriguez remained in custody at the Travis County jail awaiting transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s correctional facility.
