A man convicted of killing three people and wounded two others in a 2018 rampage in Gardena and Lynwood has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Selvin Fabian Salazar, 32, was convicted in September on multiple charges:
- Three counts of murder
- Two counts of attempted murder
- One felony count of intimidation of a witness
- One felony count of carjacking
- One felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon
Salazar's conviction comes more than six years after he opened fire on his pregnant girlfriend and others after becoming upset during a party at a Gardena trailer park.
After Salazar shot multiple people at the party, he forced a fellow gang member and that man's wife to help him escape to Lynwood, where he fatally shot the other man and tried to kill the woman, though the gun malfunctioned.
“Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, who have endured tremendous loss and suffering as a result of Mr. Salazar’s horrific actions,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a news release announcing the sentence. “I wish to extend my thanks to Deputy District Attorney Kendra Carman who vigorously prosecuted this case and steadfastly sought justice. We hope this sentence brings a measure of closure to the victims and their loved ones.”
