Homicide detectives are looking for witnesses and more information after finding a 48-year-old man shot down in Santa Ana on Saturday night, police say.
The Santa Ana Police Department said the station received a report of a shooting around 8:51 p.m. in the area of 2000 S. Wood Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 48-year-old man down with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police later identified the victim as Trino Steven Leon of Anaheim.
Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and transported Leon to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“At this time, the motive surrounding the shooting is under investigation,” wrote the department in a release on Sunday.
Details are limited, police did not immediately provide a suspect description or further details leading up to the incident.
Homicide detectives say they are attempting to identify and locate additional witnesses who can provide information about the case.
