A homicide suspect is in custody after a man was fatally stabbed through his chest in a McDonald’s parking lot on Sunday afternoon, police confirmed to KTLA.
The Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) said a call came in around 3:05 p.m. for a stabbing that had just happened outside of the fast-food restaurant near the intersection of Bristol Street and Sunflower Avenue.
Officers responded to the scene and found a man with at least one stab would to his chest. Details are extremely limited and it’s unclear what led to the stabbing, but authorities confirmed they have one person of interest in police custody.
SAPD said the man was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The victim’s identity was not immediately made available.
Officers posted an X post just before 5 p.m. and again at 7:49 p.m. asking the public to avoid the intersection area while the homicide is under investigation.
“SAPD confirms a homicide at Bristol St. and Sunflower Ave.,” the department added in the later X post.
Video footage of the police response posted to Citizen.com shows multiple law enforcement units at the scene and officers taping off a large section of the parking lot.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities did not reveal a suspect description as of Sunday night.
Police asked anyone with information to contact the SAPD Watch Commander at 714-245-8700.
