(KRON) -- A man accused of a kidnapping and rape that occurred in Sunnyvale in 2009 was identified and arrested this week, authorities announced Thursday.
Davis Bryan Vest was taken into custody just before midnight on Tuesday in connection to the cold case. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said Vest was identified as the suspect after the 2009 rape investigation was renewed.
The arrest warrant was issued following a review of the case by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. Vest faces charges of kidnapping to commit a sexual offense and rape by force, violence, duress, menace or fear.
“Vest has been identified in at least two rapes in Sunnyvale of separate victims from 2007 and 2009,” Sunnyvale DPS said. Anyone with information on additional assaults committed by Vest is asked to contact Detective Hutchison at 408-730-7110.
Vest was booked into the Elmwood Correctional Facility with no bail allowed. He is set to be arraigned in Santa Clara County Superior Court on Thursday.
