Male model Dynus Saxon committed fatal Bronx stabbing as victim slept: NYPD source
Witnesses told police Dynus Saxon, 20, "got up and got a knife and went after the guy”, fatally stabbing Kadeem Grant in a Bronx apartment.
The male model accused of stabbing a father to death in a Bronx apartment carried out the attack as the defenseless victim slept on a couch, police sources said Wednesday.
The tenant of the Mott Haven apartment told police that visitor Dynus Saxon, 20, “got up and got a knife and went after the guy”, fatally stabbing dozing Kadeem Grant Sunday afternoon, a police source said.
Saxon is hospitalized after suffering a deep cut to his hand during the stabbing and will be undergoing a psychological examination before eventually being arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court, according to the source. He is charged with murder, manslaughter and weapon possession.
Neither the suspect nor the 35-year-old victim lived in the apartment where the killing took place. Saxon knows the tenant, who also knows Grant, and Saxon had a sexual relationship with one of the men, the source said. Police are investigating the possibility of a love triangle but also believe Saxon may have just snapped with no motive.
Police responding to the building on Grand Concourse near E. 144th St. after a 2:20 p.m. 911 call found Grant on a couch with the knife still protruding from his chest. The victim had also been cut on his hands and feet and died at the scene, police said.
The victim’s heartbroken father, who was traveling to New York from his home in Florida Tuesday to deal with the tragedy, told The News his son had a 3-year-old daughter.
“He was just a loving kid who was there for his family and his daughter,” said Christopher Grant. “It’s just sad that she has to grow up without a father.”
Saxon, of East Harlem, has appeared in Vogue Italia, L’Officiel Baltic, and in ad campaigns for Levi’s. In July, Saxon appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
When reached Tuesday, a representative at Dot Models, who represent Saxon, was shocked at the allegations.
“Oh my God,” said a woman who answered the phone. “At the moment I’m speechless.”
By Wednesday, Saxon was no longer featured on the company’s website.
The suspect’s mother told the Daily News Tuesday that Saxon could not remember what happened when she spoke to him after the killing.
“I don’t know what happened but I can tell y’all based on what I do know that it’s not going to be as simple as you want to make it,” said Saxon’s mother, who did not share her name.
“Dynus didn’t just decide to murder somebody.”
