ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Livingston Avenue Bridge Replacement Project received a big boost in funding. It was awarded $215 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The bridge goes over the Hudson River between Albany and Rensselaer Counties. It first opened during the Civil War and is limited by speed and weight restrictions.
Crews are building a new lift bridge. There will also be a new shared-use path that connects the Albany Skyway and the Empire State Trail.
It is expected to be finished in 2028.
