Lakewood police searching for attempted robbery suspect
Lakewood police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a Safeway fuel station.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — Lakewood police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a Safeway fuel station.
The robbery attempt happened at the Safeway station at 13111 West Alameda Pkwy. on Friday, Jan. 3. The fuel station is south of Peterson Park in the Foothills neighborhood.
Lakewood police released photos from a store security camera that caught the suspect while he was at the counter, and he wasn't exactly trying to blend into the crowd.
Video surveillance shows the suspect sporting a bright orange baseball-style hat and a bright orange sweatshirt.
Police also released images of the suspected vehicle he was driving. It's described as a black Volkswagen SUV.
Lakewood police did not release a full description of the suspect, but he appears to be an older man, possibly in his 60s with a greyish beard.
