Superstar rap artist Kendrick Lamar, the Compton-native who dominated the headlines this summer with his public beef with Drake, just released an album out of the blue.
The "Not Like Us" rapper dropped the 12-track, 44-minute record titled "GNX" on streaming services on Friday morning alongside a brief YouTube video.
It's Lamar's first album since 2022's "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers," and sixth overall. He's best known for 2012's "Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City" and 2015's "To Pimp a Butterfly."
None of the 12 tracks have been released before, but the album's second song, titled "squabble up," was briefly heard at the start of his video for "Not Like Us." There was no promotion for "GNX," or announcement that an album was in the works.
Lamar was announced earlier this year as the headlining act for February's Super Bowl in New Orleans.
