Jill Jacobson of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' dies at 70

Actress Jill Jacobson, known for her roles in "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Falcon Crest" and more has passed away. She was 70 years old.

Jacobson passed away on Dec. 8 at the Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center after battling "a long illness," her publicist Dan Harary told The Hollywood Reporter.

We are incredibly sad to say goodbye to our beautiful, soulful, hysterically funny, elegantly raunchy client, Jill Jacobson," her manager Ben Padua told KTLA 5. "Jill was a total spitfire of an actress with comedic timing straight out of a Marx Brother’s flick and Hollywood glamor right from its golden age. Jill took us on so many adventures and she was an absolute blast. Thank you Jill. We’ll see you in our dreams."

In September, Jacobson opened up about her two-and-a-half-year battle with esophageal cancer in an interview with Jim Masters. She was a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society and was awarded for her work in that space.

“What I went through was pretty intense. You can’t function, you just can’t function. And now I’m so grateful, I just want to keep going, I want to help people. It makes you want to help people," she told Masters.

Born in Texas, Jacobson received a B.S. in Radio, TV and Film Performance at the University of Texas at Austin before moving to Los Angeles and starring in "Nurse Sherri."

From 1985 to 1987 she starred in 22 episodes of the CBS primetime soap opera "Falcon Crest," as private detective Erin Jones. She played Larue Wilson in "The New Gidget" from 1986 to 1987. In 1989 she appeared in "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

Throughout the years she also appeared in hits like "Who's the Boss?" "Uncle Buck," "Days of Our Lives," "Murphy Brown," "Newhart" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

Her latest role was in the television series "Etheria" in 2020.

“Beautiful, energetic, and positive to the end, she will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends, and her beloved dogs Benny and Kowalski,” her family said in a statement obtained by Deadline.
