Matthew Perry's former "Friends" costar is paying tribute to him on the first anniversary of his passing.
Jennifer Aniston posted four photos of Perry to Instagram on Monday with the caption, "1 year," alongside a heart, bandaid and dove emoji.
The actress also tagged the Matthew Perry Foundation, which was established after his death to help those struggling with addiction.
"We honor Matthew today and the mission that lives on through The Foundation. Matthew understood that no one should have to face the disease of addiction alone," the foundation wrote on Instagram. "His life was dedicated to helping those suffering find healing and hope."
The foundation went on to say that their work "continues to break down the stigma that plagues this disease" and"to fight for those who struggle, ensuring that every individual can get the support they deserve."
"His legacy is a testament to the impact of compassion, and it reminds us all that we have a role to play in building a more caring and understanding community."
Perry died on Oct. 28, 2023, at his home in the Pacific Palisades, after his assistant found him unresponsive in his hot tub. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner determined he died from “acute effects of ketamine.”
The report also found that contributing factors in Perry’s death included “drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects.” The manner of the death was listed as accidental (drug and drowning-related), and there were no signs of foul play, investigators said.
Perry's assistant, two doctors and two alleged drug dealers, one nicknamed the “Ketamine Queen," face charges tied to Perry’s death. One of the doctors pleaded guilty earlier this month.
