ImmDef launches Bilingual Rapid Response Legal Resource Hotline

The Immigrant Defenders Law Center has launched a bilingual rapid response legal resource hotline in Southern California ahead of expected mass deportations.
“Detention separates families and exposes people to abuse and sometimes even death,” said Lara Urias, ImmDef program director.
“California welcomes immigrants who come to our state seeking safety or to reunify with family, and those new residents strengthen our economy and our communities.”
The number will be staffed by English and Spanish-speaking staff Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific time. The number is (213) 833-8283.
The hotline will not be used to provide legal advice, and calls do not guarantee legal representation. The phone line is an information service for community members whose loved ones have been detained and offers information on how to find their family members.
“The Trump administration’s barrage of executive orders is meant to instill fear and sow chaos. When leadership fails us, we must build community power,” said Urias.
“ImmDef has created this hotline to stand with Southern California’s immigrant residents because no immigrant should stand alone in the face of an anti-immigrant federal administration.”
