'I am not missing': 'Gossip Girl' actress speaks out amid bizarre missing person saga

The missing person saga surrounding a "Gossip Girl" actress took yet another stunning turn on Wednesday night, when the subject of a massive search took to social media to proclaim that she is "finally free" from the family that has been frantically looking for her.

Chanel Banks, best known for her roles in the teen drama as well as “Blue Bloods”, was reported missing on Nov. 8, but was found in Texas on Nov. 11, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Her family, however, including outspoken cousin Danielle-Tori Singh, says that was the wrong person.

“Please don’t stop looking for my cousin,” she pleaded, saying that police ended the search based on an old, expired ID they found on a person she says doesn't even resemble Banks.

The family has also shared a GoFundMe, organized by Singh, in an attempt to fund search efforts.

However, a series of stories posted to Banks' personal Instagram account on Wednesday claimed that the 36-year-old Playa Vista resident is safe, and accused her family of being abusive.

"Please do not donate to any GoFundMe that says I am missing," the posts read in part. "I am not missing."

The Instagram account is verified, and was created in April 2021. It has posted 70 times, including clips from "Gossip Girls" and photos with her husband, Carlos Jimenez, who spoke to KTLA.

"She had decided she didn't want to talk to the family anymore due to past issues that they had," Jimenez told KTLA in a phone interview.

LAPD closed the case, saying she was found safe in Texas, where Jimenez said she took a "solo trip."

In the apparent Instagram posts on Wednesday, the person claiming to be Banks confirmed that she took a trip to Texas amid family turmoil.

"My name is Chanel Banks," the post reads in part. "I am a 36 year old American nobody and for my entire life I have been silently carrying the pain of the ritual sexual abuse, manipulation, and outright endless torment I've endured continuously since I was a defenseless baby, at the hands of my so called family, whom are all so very "concerned" about my current whereabouts."

The posts goes on to say that Banks has met with police to verify her safety, and that she's "finally free" from her mother and her mother's family. She said that, six days ago, Jimenez drove her to the airport so she could go to Texas to be baptized by her favorite pastor.

The post, which continued for four pages, called for governmental reform when it comes to help for abuse victims, and accused her step-father of sexual abuse that continued from her childhood into adulthood.

Banks called Singh, her cousin leading the public charge for the search efforts, "fame hungry," and claims she's lying about the frequency of their communications.

Toward the end of the post, Banks claims that her and her husband's family were pursuing a conservatorship, which prompted her to cut off communications.

As of 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, there was no outright confirmation that the posts were written by Banks herself, however the account appears to belong to the actress.
