Hwy 24 in Lafayette reopens after multiple vehicle collisions

(KRON) -- A Sig Alert was issued for eastbound Highway 24 in Lafayette after multiple vehicle collisions resulted in minor injuries Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. All lanes were reopened just after 6:30 a.m.

The left two lanes were blocked at 5:30 a.m. in the eastbound direction of Hwy 24 just west of Oak Hill Road before reopening an hour later.

There were three separate collisions, each involving two cars, CHP’s incident log said. Minor injuries were reported by authorities. The extent of injuries or how many people were injured was not immediately known.

CHP initially said the two lanes faced an “extended closure.” Motorists were advised to expect delays and use alternative routes to avoid the area.

In the westbound direction of Hwy 24 in Orinda, one right lane was blocked at 6 a.m. at Wilder Road after another crash. The lane was reopened just after 6:30 a.m.
