The UCLA lecturer who says he's homeless because of the university's low pay now claims that he was "forced" to go on leave after speaking out.
Dr. Daniel McKeown, listed on UCLA's website as an astrophysics lecturer, went viral for a TikTok video earlier this month where he claimed that his pay of $70,000 per year was not enough to pay for his Westwood apartment.
“Technically, I am homeless. I do not have a place of my own. I’m not on any lease,” he said in the video.
He later said he was living with a friend in San Diego, teaching remotely.
Now, in a new video posted to TikTok earlier this week, he says UCLA "retaliated against him" for the rant.
"They've taken all of my courses that I'm teaching this fall away from me without my permission," McKeown said.
He then said department Chair Stuart Brown "retaliated" against him for making his story public.
McKeown previously told KTLA that his requests for a raise were denied. KTLA reached out to UCLA several times for comment on his claims but received no response.
