AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin didn’t quite get what we were anticipating in terms of winter weather, but the city still experienced hours of rain and near-freezing temperatures overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Other cities in Texas, however, received a well-rounded mix of winter weather.

In Lubbock, there was mixed wintry precipitation forecast for the area, with a total snow accumulations of up to 4 inches. There was also a possibility of ice forming from freezing rain.

The Amarillo area had morning temperatures in the 20s and experienced snow, sleet and freezing rain. Most of the area was expected to get between 2-4″ of snow, while some areas could see as much as 5″ of snow.

Much of North Texas, including parts of Dallas, saw freezing rain, sleet and snow accumulations. The area is expected to receive between 1 to 6 inches of snow or more.

Near Abilene, there was an 80% chance of a wintry mix and a high of 35 degrees during the early hours of the day. However, the chance of snow decreases through the night to 30% with the low reaching 30 degrees.

Areas in and surrounding Tyler saw heavy cloud coverage with periods of rain, sleet, and snow. Highs were in the mid-30s, with lows in the lower 30s expected at night.

While many parts of Texas received snow, other areas didn’t quite have the temperatures necessary and only received rain. Much of the Houston area experienced heavy rainfall and even some flooding on its roadways.
