The HBCU Caravan will make its only stop in San Diego County, featuring representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country.
“The San Diego Community College District is deeply committed to creating pathways of opportunity and access for our diverse student body,” said Ashanti T. Hands, president of Mesa College. “This CCC to HBCU Transfer Caravan event is a perfect reflection of that commitment.
“HBCUs offer a rich history of academic excellence and culturally affirming and nurturing environments that can be a transformative next step for our students. We strongly encourage students to explore the unique opportunities that HBCUs from across the country offer, as they consider their next steps in higher education.”
San Diego County high school students and community college students seeking transfer to a four-year university can attend and learn more about scholarships as well as participate in workshops and be eligible for prize giveaways, a Mesa College statement reads.
Students are encouraged to bring copies of their unofficial transcripts for on-the-spot admissions opportunities. Any California community college student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher who also meets completion requirements is guaranteed admission to all partner HBCU institutions.
The event will take place on Mesa College’s quad, 7250 Mesa College Drive, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
