Hamburg Town Park receives $1 million grant for Blizzard of '22 repairs

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Town of Hamburg is over $1 million richer after Congressman Nick Langworthy announced a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant Thursday.

The $1,172,559.72 grant will be used for permanent repairs to the Town Park following severe damage caused by the blizzard of December 2022. The Town Park jetty, floating dock pilings, catch basin covers, and their driveway will be repaired with the funds, according to FEMA.

Nearly four feet of snow fell in Hamburg over five days, according to the National Weather Service, with winds of up to 64 miles an hour.

"Winter Storm Elliott devastated communities across Western New York and the Southern Tier and I will continue to work non-stop with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and with federal officials to get resources back to NY-23," said Langworthy.
