The Gophers men’s hockey team outshot the visiting Alaska Nanooks 33-19, but settled for a 1-1 draw against the independent Division I side at Mariucci Arena.
The third-ranked Gophers were on the back foot early when the Nanooks took a 1-0 lead on the lone goal of the first period.
However, freshman forward Beckett Hendrickson drew Minnesota even at 1-1 with a goal at 14:45 of the second, assisted by linemates Brody Lamb and Aaron Huglen. That would be it for the scoring as both teams played one another to a draw through the third period and overtime.
Alaska picked up an unofficial win when it won a shootout round to end the contest.
