Golfer in ICU after SUV runs into him on Billy Caldwell Golf Course in Forest Glen

A 70-year-old man remained in intensive care after an SUV hit him as he golfed at the Billy Caldwell Golf Course Monday evening in Forest Glen on the Northwest Side. The 70-year-old golfer was on the fifth hole at the course — located in the 6100 block of North Caldwell Avenue — around 5:30 p.m. when a black SUV "driving erratically" struck the man, the Forest Preserve District said in a statement. The golfer was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where he remained Tuesday, authorities said. Chicago and Forest Preserve police responded to the course after staff called 911 and the driver was arrested, officials said. Charges were pending.
