(KRON) – The newest Bay Area major pro sports team, the Golden State Valkyries, has announced the date of its inaugural season at the Chase Center on Monday.
The inaugural game, slated for May 16 of next year, will be a California battle with the Valkyries facing the Los Angeles Sparks.
This season has 44 games scheduled with half being home games. Golden State will compete for a $500,000 prize pool in its first-ever Commissioners Cup.
Walnut Creek native Sabrina Ionescu and the reigning champions New York Liberty will be the Valkyries' fourth matchup on May 27, 2025, at the Barclays Center. Two days later, the teams will play again in Brooklyn.
Ionescu will return to the Bay on June 25, 2025, at the Chase Center.
Per the Valkyries, the team will reveal its complete broadcast schedule at a later date.
