DAVENPORT — Four individuals were rescued from the ocean off the coast of Davenport Landing Monday at approximately 2:17 p.m., Cal Fire CZU reported.

First responders received reports of a group of people who were unable to safely return to shore due to the turbulent waves. Emergency crews responded to the incident, and five rescue swimmers jumped in and saved all four people. Three rescue swimmers were from the Santa Cruz Fire Department, while two others were lifeguards from State Parks Santa Cruz. No injuries were reported.

“Large swells are currently observed along the coast, and for your safety, do not get close to the water’s edge,” Cal Fire CZU said in a statement posted to Facebook. Cal Fire, Santa Cruz Fire Department, State Parks Santa Cruz and American Medical Response responded to the incident.
