SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Springs Department of Public Works (DPW) has closed Gilbert Road due to flooding. DPW closed the road at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and it will remain closed overnight.
DPW said the culvert on Gilbert Road is known to flood from rain and snowmelt. This makes the road dangerous to travel through, in addition to having low visibility at night.
Gilbert Road runs between Lake Avenue and Union Avenue. The closure is from Conver Drive to Lake Avenue. Residents will still be able to access their homes within the closure area, said DPW.
All other drivers should use Henning Road as a detour. DPW said they will reassess Gilbert Road in the early morning hours on Thursday.
