Falcons soar in subregional win over Smithtown Christian

AVERILL PARK, NY (NEWS10) -- The second ranked team in Class D for Girls Basketball, Northville, looked the part on Wednesday night in their 56-23 win over Smithtown Christian in the state subregional.
The Falcons jumped out to an early lead, opening the game on a 14-0 run while not allowing Smithtown Christian to score until there was less than 30 seconds left in first quarter. The frame ended with a buzzer beating 3 pointer from Hailey Monroe.
Northville continued to grow their advantage in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 15-10 in the second quarter to go into the break with a 32-12 advantage. The Falcons never let the contest get close as they cruised to the victory in the second half.
Hailey Monroe led the way for Northville in the scoring column, recording a game-high 19 points. The Falcons defense was excellent in the win recording 15 steals in the contest.
With the win, Northville advances to the regional finals where they will face Eldred, the champions of Section 9. The regional game will be played at Kingston High School on Saturday at 11 a.m.
