Ex-Bear Kyle Long said team lacks 'inspiration from their coach'
Former Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long said the team is “cooked” after their second consecutive loss.Speaking on his “Pushing the Pile” podcast on Monday, Long said that Matt Eberflus’ situation reminds him of former Bears coach Marc Trestman, but in reverse. Trestman’s offense was elite in his first season but his defense was poor; Eberflus’ defense has been better than his offense.“I think there’s too much in-fighting,” Long said on his CBS Sports podcast. “I think they lack inspiration from their coach.”Long laughed at Eberflus’ sideline interview coming out of halftime Sunday, when he told CBS that he told his players, “Hey, this is what the score is, and we have each other.” Long wanted more passion.“That sounds like a mom who’s given up on a couple kids who have had really bad behavioral [issues] on the day,” said Long, who played for the Bears from 2013-19. “’You know what, I’m checked out. You wait ‘til your dad gets home.’ …. But there’s no dad that’s coming home for the Bears right now. That’s what you’ve got.”
