Empower Field won't host a Super Bowl, but fans can watch this year's at Mile High Stadium

DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver Broncos have never hosted a Super Bowl, but this year, some fans can celebrate Super Bowl LIX at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium.

The Broncos haven't hosted a Super Bowl, and based on the field requirements, Empower Field won't be hosting the game unless changes are made to fit the NFL’s list of requirements ranging from stadium needs, transportation and hotels to government guarantees.

While there won't be a Super Bowl in Denver in the near future, there will be a way to join in on the festivities in Denver.

Celebrate Super Bowl LIX at Empower Field

Verizon is hosting a "Super Bowl FanFest" for Super Bowl LIX in 30 cities across the country, with one in Denver at Empower Field.

On Feb. 9 starting at 2 p.m., former Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will be hosting the experience. He'll be joined by other NFL legends, Miles the Mascot and the team's cheerleaders.

There will be food and beverages from locally-owned small businesses, live music and interactive games including on-field football challenges at Empower Field.

According to Verizon, customers can bring a select number of guests to FanFest. To get a ticket, Verizon customers can request a ticket on the FanFest website.

Verizon said there will be more announcements on its website as the event gets closer.
