(KTVI) - Now in the works for HBO: A new drama series titled "DTF St. Louis," starring acclaimed actors Jason Bateman and David Harbour.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced Friday that HBO has officially ordered "DTF St. Louis" as an original, limited seven-episode series.
Many details around the series are still in the works, but HBO offered this synopsis via a news release: "A darkly comedic limited series about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead."
Any connections between St. Louis and the series remains unclear. HBO has not disclosed whether there are plans to film or stage the show in the St. Louis region.
The series titles also uses the acronym "DTF," which is also slang for "Down to [Four-letter expletive]."
Current plans called for Jason Bateman and David Harbour to star in the series, while award-winning filmmaker Steven Conrad will serve as a showrunner, writer, director and executive producer, according to Friday's news release.
Bateman is widely recognized for his lead roles as Michael Bluth in FOX/Netflix sitcom "Arrested Development" and Marty Byrde in Netflix series "Ozark," which is fictionally based on Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks region. Harbour has gained global attention for his role as Jim Hopper in Netflix hit series "Stranger Things."
"With David Harbour and Jason Bateman at series center, two masterful titans in their own right, we couldn't be more emboldened by the journey ahead and look forward to sharing this special, emotionally provocative piece with the world come time," said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films via the news release.
She adds, "We are tremendously excited to work with the brilliant auteur Steve Conrad, whose singularity of vision lies central to all his work as a storyteller."
Deadline.com reports that the "DTF St. Louis" series has evolved from Conrad's limited series project "My Dentist's Murder Trial," which was reportedly in its developmental stages as of last year. That series is true-crime drama based on a New York dentist who went to trial for allegedly killing his friend.
As for "DTF St. Louis," there are no clear timetables yet on when filming, production and series releases are expected.
