A motorist drove off the side of a road early Thursday morning sparking a brush fire in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The incident was reported just after 1 a.m. after the vehicle plunged off Stunt Road near Calabasas.
Flames had already engulfed the vehicle and spread to nearby brush when first responders arrived at the scene.
Rescue crews spotted the car about 200 feet down the hillside and located the driver using a drone with thermal imaging, freelance media firm KNN reported.
Thick vegetation and steep terrain made the rescue and firefight challenging.
The unidentified motorist was eventually pulled to safety and taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. It was unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors.
