Dodger fans put Metro through its paces ahead of parade

The much-maligned public transit system in Los Angeles is sure getting a workout on Friday, though the crowds are providing much-needed practice ahead of the 2028 Olympics.

Video shared to social media shows packed Los Angeles Metro train cars to the point that one outlet joked that Metro "dressed up as the NYC subway... the day after Halloween."

Thousands of Dodger fans crowded the streets of downtown Los Angeles for the World Series championship parade Friday morning, with closures forcing many to use public transit instead of driving.

The Boys in Blue's five-game series win over the New York Yankees is giving Angelenos a reason to celebrate, but it's also providing a preview of what the 2028 Summer Olympics could look like.

That international sporting event will depend on a mostly car-free transit system, meaning many of these same fans could be back on buses and trains instead of in their cars.

Given the throngs of Dodger fans along the parade route, it seems Metro got people where they wanted to go.
