DENVER (KDVR) — This is the future for American turkeys that Benjamin Franklin hoped for.
On Thursday, Gov. Jared Polis announced the pardoning of four turkeys in honor of Thanksgiving celebrations, in a post on X. The turkeys were relocated to Adams County where they will continue their aviary existence.
The four pardoned birds were named:
- Lady Riketa Featherington
- Dinger
- Rockette
- Fred
Polis said the pardoning is a fun way to celebrate Thanksgiving while honoring Colorado's agricultural producers.
The governor's post on X also asked Coloradans to look out for produce marked with the Colorado Proud emblem when shopping for Thanksgiving this season. The emblem verifies that the product was grown, raised or made by Colorado's agricultural industry.
