Denver weather: Winter storm warning continues through Friday night
The first major snowstorm of the season for metro Denver continues overnight Friday and into Saturday morning.
DENVER (KDVR) — The first major snowstorm of the season for metro Denver continues overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. Denver's weather will continue to be cold and snowy with several inches of snow still expected.
Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, expects much calmer and warmer weather will return next week.
Snow totals will be dependent on temperatures. With temperatures just above freezing during the day Friday, the Pinpoint Weather team had slightly lowered totals for the metro.
Weather tonight: Heavy snow continues
Temperatures will fall to around 30 degrees in metro Denver. This means snow that falls will be wet and heavy. If temperatures manage to stay above freezing, snow totals will be hampered, but roads may be able to stay only wet.
Weather tomorrow: Snow ends and temperatures warm
Snow will end by midday Saturday. Some areas may see a rain/snow mix before all precipitation ends for this event. Temperatures will rebound into the upper 30s and lower 40s which means melting should already start for the high snow totals. There may even be a few rays of sunshine in the afternoon before sunset.
Looking ahead: Much quieter, warmer next week
After a very active first week of November, quieter weather will return next week. Starting Sunday sunshine returns and temperatures rebound to the lower 50s.
Melting will continue to speed up with highs next week generally in the upper 40s to middle 50s with plenty of sunshine. There might be some mountain snow showers or a stray rain shower overnight on Tuesday.
