DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued for Monday as colder conditions help rain change to snow in Denver’s weather forecast. The accumulating snowfall could cause difficult travel in the metro and the mountains.
Another Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued for Wednesday as another round of snow moves in. The Denver metro could see 1-3 inches of snow and the Palmer Divide could see 3-6 inches.
Weather today: Light snow and rain
Monday morning's drive could be dicey due to snow, wet roads and some slushy accumulation in the metro. If you plan on driving on Monday, make sure to watch for slick spots.
A winter storm warning is in effect along the foothills until 11 a.m. and a winter weather advisory is in effect for areas to the south until 11 a.m., as well.
In the meantime, highs on Monday will max out in the middle to lower 40s.
Weather tonight: Mostly clear skies, cold
Clear skies dominate the area with lows topping out in the middle to upper 20s. Winds will be out of the southwest anywhere from 5-15 mph.
Looking ahead: More snow chances, cold temperatures
On Tuesday, sunshine returns to the forecast. Temperatures will still be on the cool side, only climbing the 50s, which is about 5 degrees below average.
However, the dry conditions won’t last long.
The next chance for showers will spread from the mountains down to the metro Tuesday night into Wednesday. This will be a much colder system, which will aid in an increased chance for snow in Denver.
At this time, there are still questions on the timing and track of this system, but, it looks to aid in keeping the chance for showers and below-normal temperatures in the forecast through the start of the weekend.
So, stay tuned for updates as the Pinpoint Weather team’s confidence increases with the timing and intensity of this next storm.
