DENVER (KDVR) — More snow will move into the metro Friday morning and linger into Saturday morning with high snowfall totals across the Eastern Plains in the Denver weather forecast.
Weather today: Snow showers move in
Snow showers move in Friday morning from the south, bringing more snow to the Eastern Plains. Temperatures stay near freezing, so expect to see wet and heavy snow.
With snowfall rates up to an inch an hour, roads could become slick and that means Friday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day.
Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories for Denver and the foothills are in effect and expire at noon on Saturday. The rest of the warnings and advisories along the plains and southern Front Range will expire at 5 a.m. Saturday.
Weather tonight: Continuing snow showers
Snow will gradually begin to wrap up after midnight, with most of the snow tapering off by the mid-morning hours Saturday.
Temperatures will dip into the lower 30s Friday night with light winds.
Looking ahead: Warming and drying
As the snow wraps up on Saturday morning, the Pinpoint Weather Alert Day will end as the snow exits.
Roads are expected to be slick for the first half of the day Saturday with some expected improvement as sunshine pops back out in by the afternoon. Highs on Saturday will be in the lower 40s with light winds.
Snowfall totals will be larger with this end of the system as it is also a wet and heavy snow. The Denver metro/foothills could see 5-10 inches, the Palmer Divide could see 10-15 inches, the Eastern Plains (along I-70 and south) could have 15-20 inches.
Sunshine is back for Sunday afternoon with highs returning to the lower 50s.
Monday starts the next week with plenty of sunshine and comfy highs in the lower 50s. Denver will be a few degrees warmer in the middle 50s on Tuesday with partly cloudy skies.
Low 50s are back for Wednesday with a few clouds lingering. Sunny conditions return on Thursday as temperatures bump up to the upper 50s.
