December Nights: What to know before you go
It's the start of December and that means the return of December Nights in San Diego.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- It's the start of December and that means the return of December Nights in San Diego.
The two-night free event takes place this week in Balboa Park on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, attendees can go from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., while on Saturday, the hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
From food vendors and light displays to musical performances and a visit from Santa, December Nights offers a variety of activities.
Heavy traffic will be a guarantee for visitors.
For those driving, free parking can be found at the San Diego Zoo and City College with complimentary shuttle service, while paid parking is available in Lot A at Inspiration Point, Lot B on Presidents Way and at Roosevelt Middle School. Other parking options can be found here.
For those biking or taking the shuttle, there are bike lanes that lead to the park and shuttle stops at the City College Transit Center for trolley and bus riders. Ridesharing is an option as both sides of Sixth Avenue near the Cabrillo Bridge are designated drop-off and pick-up locations.
Disabled parking is also offered off Park Boulevard at the Fleet Science Center on Space Theater Way.
The City of San Diego strongly encourages attendees to leave their pets at home.
Remember, you'll be doing a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. Also, dress in layers as it gets chilly at night.
And most of all, be safe and have fun celebrating the holidays with family and friends!
