Dead by Daylight announced more details about the Castlevania collaboration, which is set to launch later this month. Behaviour Interactive revealed on the Dead by Daylight website the multiplayer survival game would go live on August 27. The Castlevania collaboration will include Trevor Belmont as a survivor and Dracula as a killer.
Dead by Daylight reveals details of its Castlevania crossover
Behaviour Interactive announced earlier this year that it had collaborated with Castlevania. However, the multi-action player game developers did not reveal concrete details until August 6, when they unveiled their Steam public test build.
The developers added that the Castlevania chapter would feature two additional playable characters, Protagonist Trevor Belmont and Dracula as the killer.
The character details for the Dead by Daylight Castlevania chapter were also unveiled. Dracula is more of a dark lord than a nighttime monster. He is reportedly the first shape-shifting killer who can conjure fire and transform into a wolf, bat, and Vampire.
The transformations reportedly give Dracula different powers. The wolf, for instance, allows faster movement when hunting survivors, and the scent orbs enable him to track them much more easily.
The bat’s transformation is undetectable. It can teleport across the map, allowing it to cover more ground when hunting.
Devs unveil characters’ new abilities ahead of the chapter’s release
Dave Richard, a creative director, praised Dracula’s abilities and compared it to the Symphony of the Night Dracula character. He added that featuring Dracula as a dark lord and the Count of Castlevania in the upcoming chapter was a unique opportunity for the game.
We wanted to create fluidity in the way players can have Dracula change between his different forms and have it feel seamless.
Dracula also reportedly brings his castle to Dead by Daylight whenever he appears on the game set. His castle is said to loom over the horizon; however, fans noted that it is only featured on the original maps.
Behaviour noted that Trevor was a good team player and had innate ally-seeking capabilities. They added that he also possesses unmatched vampire-hunting skills that set him apart from other Belmonts.
Trevor Belmont was introduced to Castlevania in 1989 and is part of a Belmont survivor bloodline. Since then, Trevor reportedly appeared in various Castlevania titles such as Judgement and Curse of Darkness.
The devs revealed that Trevor comes with three new perks, including the Eyes of Belmont, which will allow him to see the killer’s aura. Fans have, however, termed the other two perks, Moment of Glory and Exultation, as situational. They added that the perks were only applicable a minute after the character suffered an injury or when an item recharge was necessary.
