Granting access to art
A grant from Santa Clara County will enable New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) to conduct greater outreach to students attending lower-income Title I schools to encourage participation in ArtNow, NUMU’s annual juried Santa Clara County high school art exhibition and educational program.
The grant, which was proposed by County Supervisor Joe Simitian, will enable NUMU to translate communications and exhibit materials into Spanish and Vietnamese, enhance the Teen Council internship program, and develop an ArtNow Teacher Roundtable program to connect teachers and encourage resource sharing throughout the county.
The ArtNow 2025 theme is “Dreamscapes” and was created in partnership with the Teen Council. NUMU established the Teen Council to elevate the ArtNow program to be more widely accessible and more relevant to teenagers living across Santa Clara County. Council members are chosen from high schools throughout the county; past members have come from Westmont High School in Campbell and Monta Vista and Homestead high schools in Cupertino.
Students can submit artwork for the next ArtNow exhibit until Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025. For submission requirements and categories, visit www.numulosgatos.org/artnow.
